Unbound Art Book Fair

Identity for the Rhode Island School of Design art book fair, UNBOUND. The identity was inspired by a lecture that Alison Parish gave in which she talked about the kiki/bouba effect, a psychological phenomena where regardless of language or country humans associate a the word kiki with a spiky shape and word bouba with a blobby shape. The identity plays with this relationship between language and form and oscillates between the two personalities. The counters of the letters have been isolated to create a set of shapes for the system.
